The Latest Worth Trying in Adult Acne Treatments

Written by: Susan Hang

You may have noticed an enormous amount of skincare products barging in recently and there’s good reason…

my entire skincare routine’s been revamped! Although serums, moisturizers, toners, and essences will perpetually be rotated in and out, there are two ingredients I’ll never part with: benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. You’ve heard me bemoan about my adult acne tribulation once before and it was serious! So yes, I continue to rely on those very two things even when I have no spots – because I’m all about prevention nowadays.

I had raved about my prized DDF products, which I’d still recommend any day, but I about annihilated a combined 4 oz of the Benzoyl Peroxide Gel and Salicylic Acid Treatment. Although I’d have no doubts about repurchasing, I was inclined to test some different treatments on the market because that’s just what I do. Next up…

Eve Lom Dynaspot

This spot treatment combines antiseptic extracts (tea tree oil) with salicylic acid to rid blemishes quickly and diminish oil production without drying the skin. Unlike other treatments I’ve used before, this one is tinted, which serves the purpose of “matching your skin tone”, but I actually don’t like that it’s tinted. The texture is also a little difficult to work with and therefore isn’t ideal for makeup. The tint and formulation make the product seem drying, although it’s not actually drying to the skin – the product itself is just dry. However, it reduces redness and inflammation quickly and speeds up the healing process, which means it works! I do still wear this product under makeup – I just make sure I moisturize really well beforehand.

Kate Somerville Anti Bac Clearing Lotion

This was my first ever experience with Kate Somerville and it did not disappoint. It’s got a nice smooth texture that sinks nicely into skin without leaving a residue (like the Eve Lom, although I use both in conjunction). I feel like it’s most effective at treating blemishes that have already been extracted – confession, I have a bad habit of picking. The anti-bacterial properties work its magic at keeping my pores clear and new breakouts at bay.

Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil

Not exactly an acne treatment, but it’s got a mysterious healing aspect to it that makes it belong here. I’ve been using it over both the acne treatments above and it’s been amazing at moisturizing and nourishing my skin. My skin’s also been looking really radiant and healthy! I’ve mixed it with foundation a few times and that glow factor is just sooo good! Definitely a must if you’ve got dry skin and a case of adult acne.
